Waverly was first diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), with major
organ involvement of her kidneys, in February 1972, when she was 18 years of
age. Her symptoms first began in the fall of 1971, and she was diagnosed after
two hospitalizations. She was given immunosuppressive drugs and corticosteroids,
which suppressed the SLE symptoms and the autoimmune reaction in her kidneys,
allowing her to return again to an active life. In 1977, while still following
her medical treatment, she began her emotional healing work on her issues of
having lupus. By 1978, all of the lupus was gone. Since that time, she has had
no recurrence of lupus.
